Cook-off cancelled, but rest of BBQ Fest continues

Enjoy a weekend full of fun, music and food at the Texas Barbecue Festival that kicks off Friday and runs through the weekend at Conn Park in Vidor, Texas. According to the Vidor Chamber of Commerce, the cook-off has been cancelled due to the weather, but the festival is still a go as of Thursday night. Tickets are $10, $5 for children, parking is free.

Lions Club Carnival-The Fun Begins Wednesday

Lions Club Carnival Schedule for 2016Local Lions are ready for the annual Lions Club Carnival set to open  at 630 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016.

The carnival runs Wednesday through Saturday through Oct. 8.  It closes at 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Admission is $2 adults $1 students.

October 1 is Kiddie Day from 4-6 Lions Club Carnivalp.m.  Wednesday night at the carnival is can night. Bring a canned food item and get free entry into the park on Wednesday nights only.

Kiddie rides are only $1, larger rides are $2.

 

Pro fishermen testing the waters before weekend Elite Redfish Series

About 35 pro fishermen are expected to participate in next weekend’s Elite Redfish Series tournament scheduled for April 8-10, 2016 in Orange, Texas.

Several were in town at Meet the Pros events, signing autographs and taking photos with fans Saturday. Jamie Hough, Nicky Savoie and Scott Ayres were at Sabine River Ford.

“We really appreciate the reception we have received in Orange. The people we have met have been very supportative and have really welcomed us,” said Jamie Hough. “I asked where I could find a car wash and half the people in Kroger went outside with me to give me directions.” Continue reading Pro fishermen testing the waters before weekend Elite Redfish Series
