The Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) took place in San Antonio with participants from Region 5 present for the first time in recent memory.

After competing at the Regional Event held at the Stark Museum of Art in February, art teacher Terri Thompson and her student Silvana Ochoa of Sabine Pass High School joined 2,110 other art students at State VASE held at James Madison High School in San Antonio on Saturday, April 29th.

“My students and I were extremely impressed with the quality of the work at the event and the dedication that the students and their teachers showed. My students left excited to proceed with next year’s projects, determined to make an impression. We were pleased that both students received a superior rating for our first time in the event. Looking forward to next year,” Thompson noted. Also present representing Region V was Annmarie Ventura, Studio and Outreach Programs Manager, at the Stark Museum of Art and Region V VASE Director.
