The Charlie Pruitt Country Music Reunion Show was a huge success Saturday at the Jefferson Theater. The man that had an impact on the careers of several area artists was joyous at the celebration of his accomplishments. He was presented with a guitar that had a replica of the logo on the front at the end of the show. It had been signed by all the band members and performers that night, plus members of the committee.
We were honored to be a part of this celebration of country music in Southeast Texas. A big thank you to other committee members, Doug Childress, Benny and Sheryl Brocato, Britt Godwin, Zynetta Morrow and Ashley Bradley.
The band came from across time and space from among all the musicians that played on the show over the years. Though most of the musicians are local, drummer Lonney Tate logged over 1,000 miles to
participate in last week’s rehearsal and show, Other band members included Joe Rogers on steel guitar, Huey Buxton on fiddle, Bubba Moore on base, Roy Rosetta on Piano, Larry Shelton played acoustic guitar, while Britt Godwin played lead guitar and led the band. Sheryl Brocato sang back-up and also played the fiddle. Also singing back-up were the Granger sisters- Linda Crawford and Bonita Eaves.
The Sabine River Bend Bluegrass Band played in front of the curtain before the show started and were a big hit.
Performers and audience members alike have asked if we will do it again. The answer to that question will be determined this weekend, when the committee meets to wrap up details from Saturday’s show and determine how much money was raised for the Humane Society of Southeast Texas. Every member of the team has expressed how much they have enjoyed the endeavor, so I foresee a possible future for the show, but we’ll see.
The performers did a wonderful job and the committee would like to personally thank each one for their participation. Thank you Ashley Bradley, rank Davis, Lana Anderson, Mike Blakeney, Paige Price, Regina Richards, Ashley Riley, Jeremy WIliams, Daelynn Perry, Kay Miller, Rex Harris and the Sabine River Bend Bluegrass Band.
Stay tuned for updates on possible future shows and final results for the Charlie Pruitt Country Music Show Reunion.
