Guys and Dolls at OCP

I slipped into one of the dress rehearsals for “Guys and Dolls” at the Orange Community Playhouse to check it out. It starts its two week run Thursday at 7:37 p.m.

They have created lighted signs for the backdrop since it is supposed to be on Broadway in New York City. Light strips were used to mimic the neon lights of days gone by. I think it took them up a notch in using technology. They also used their screen to “roll credits” at the start, which was something new. I also appreciated how they were using the screen to convey travel from one country to another. It’s kind of cool how they are starting to incorporate some techniques used only in movies and TV and are adapting them to live theater. Continue reading Guys and Dolls at OCP

The Stark Museum of Art is preparing for one of the most significant exhibitions in its history, Branding the American West: Paintings and Films, 1900-1950, opening March 11, 2017 and on view through September 9, 2017. The exhibition will include more than 80 works of art and related film content highlighting the changing brands, or imagery of violence, beauty and celebration of the American West.

First Baptist Church Orange to Host Fish Fry

Fish Fry at First Ba[tost Church OrangeOrange’s First Baptist Church will host the FBCO Fish Fry, a yearly evening of fried fish and fun that will be held on Sunday, March 19 located at 7637 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. from 4 to 7 p.m.
