Just found out Kaycie was in Hershey, Pa. performing this week.

This is a story I ran on her back in September at The Record.

She had a bit of swagger when she walked into the office, not the usual gate of most Southeast Texas girls. Then again, she’s not like most girls. When Kaycie Gunn heard her first sounds of a beat box, she was hooked. She was in the lunch line with one of her friends, her freshman year in high school when her friend subconsciously beat a few bars.

“Wow, that’s cool,” Gunn told her friend. It started a search for knowledge about “beat boxing” and “rap.”

Shriners Mardi Gras dance may become annual event

The El Mina Shriners were hoping to break even and have a good time at the Mardi Gras Dance they held Saturday night at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center.Dancers 1

“It turned out better than expected,” said Pierre Delafosse, one of the coordinators of the event.

He said they had a Mardi Gras dance several years ago that operated at a loss.
