Champagne Room cancels at Music Fest Saturday

Update: Music Fest will end at 6:30 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. due to Champagne Room cancellation. No rain cancellation at this time. Champagne Room rescheduled for September Boat Races.

I was working on this announcement from the Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau that it was now OK to bring coolers to Saturday’s Music Fest. I went to tomorrow’s headliner, Champagne Room’s Facebook page and discovered this announcement…”It is with great disappointment that we must announce that we will not be performing at the Orange County Music Festival tomorrow night, March 25th, 2017. Get your dance on at the VFW

The VFW post in Orange hosts dances every Thursday night 7-11 p.m. at the post on north Hwy 87.

For only $6 you can dance the night away to a variety of Cajun and Swamp pop bands. Those that play on a rotating basis are Zydicane, Jerry Dee and Rocking Randy, Creole Cookin and the Cadillacs.

Juneteenth Celebration in Orange at Riverfront Pavilion

Together We Can and Top Ladies of Distinction will be hosting Orange’s first Juneteenth Celebration in honor of the Sesquicentennial of slaves being freed in Texas.

The Juneteenth event will be held 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Orange Riverfront Pavilion in Orange, Texas.

Besides music, the free Juneteenth Celebration will also have activities for kids including moonwalks, a kids zone, face painting and Heros for Hire-where kids and get pictures taken in costumes, a mechanical bull and food vendors.

There will be a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation at noon, with a flag ceremony, parade and trail ride. The parade will travel down Simmons to Morrell, Cordrey, 14th Street, then back to the pavilion.

Entertainment starts at 1 p.m. Scheduled to perform are Roland Champaine, Step Rideau & The Zydeco Outlaws, Vin Zeal, Perry Richard, David Richard, Micki Richard, Dono Lewis and more.
